WOMEN'S FICTION FESTIVAL 2007
SPEAKING OF LOVE
“Do you want me to tell you something subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more.”
Erica Jong
Love in all its guises and permutations. Sex, passion, romance, bittersweet solitude, sweeping, gripping emotions.
The Fourth International Women’s Fiction Festival in 2007 focuses on fiction with a heart, stirring novels that inspire hopes and dreams, a journey into the soul of women’s fiction..
THE DREAM MACHINE
The Women’s Fiction Festival opens its doors to every expression of love. Books, yes, but more. Images, voices, sounds. Love that can be felt and seen. Best selling authors, internationally-renowned screenwriters, scriptwriters and playwrights, editors, agents and directors all speak of love in a thousand different languages. A feast for all the senses.
THE WRITERS’ CONFERENCE
ONE ON ONE APPOINTMENTS – WORKSHOPS AND MASTER CLASSES
Conference attendees will have the opportunity to discuss their works with editors of the world’s leading publishing houses and with famous literary agents in one on one appointments. The conference features workshops and master classes on writing and on the marketplace.
BREAFING FOR THRILLER WRITERS
The 2007 Women’s Fiction Festival again will offer the unique ‘Briefings for Thriller Writers’ program consisting of seminars given by the world’s best crime experts to provide your thriller, crime novel or murder mystery with the dense, accurate detail today’s crime novels require.
THE FESTIVAL
Against the stunning cityscape of Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Women’s Fiction Festival organizes fascinating panels and round tables with best-selling authors and world-renowned directors in a friendly and informal setting.
The Festival’s public events are held in beautiful historic buildings and in sun-drenched piazzas. Our Happy Hour is a wonderful way for the reading public and journalists to mingle with the authors, a delightful way to gain insight into the fascinating world of books and movies.

The literary prize is a jewel hand-crafted by a talented local artist. The ‘La Baccante’ prize this year goes to Alicia Gimenez-Bartlett, one of Europe’s finest mystery writers, the winner of the 1997 Feminino Lumen prize as best Spanish writer. The ‘La Baccante’ prize was awarded to Maria Venturi, in 2004 and to Inge Feltrinelli,in 2005.
