Matera 2019 Committee
To put the city of Matera forward for European Capital of Culture means much more than simply having a good or attractive idea; to us it means developing a Combined Strategy, in which the entire population of Basilicata (about 600,000) should feel involved. With that in mind, the application is collectively supported by the main institutions of the region, the Committee of Matera 2019: Matera City Council, Basilicata Region, Potenza City Council, Province of Matera, Province of Potenza, the Chamber of Commerce of Matera and the University of Basilicata.
The Committee is an organisation, which will end its role when Italy chooses its representative city in 2019; the model of the Committee of Matera 2019 is structure as an "Aim Committee", according to the article 39 and ss. of the Civil Code.
