“Above the starry skies of Matera” : a literary marathon

“Above the starry skies of Matera” : a literary marathon

Wouldn't you love to visit beautiful historic Matera, participate in its stories and add your own? Here's your chance to do so!

Take part in the collective marathon reading dedicated to women's love stories on Saturday, September 28, 2013, in the historic city center of Matera during the 10th annual International Women's Fiction Festival.

A fascinating blend of oral and written storytelling of stories both public and private-- whether handed down orally or written. During the literary marathon stories will flow up and down the streets of the city. The Sasso Barisano district will be lit only by lamps for the event. The marathon begins in Piazza Duomo at 7 pm and will make its way along the city streets, a choral storytelling via readings given by writers, editors and the citizens of the city.

Each participant will read a short excerpt from a book or personal writing to an audience of participants. Once the reading is done, another participant picks up and reads something by a woman writer on all the various aspects of love in all its forms—whether platonic, romantic, virtual, political, social. The readings will follow a path from Piazza Duomo to Piazza Sedile, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Piazza San Giovanni, Casa Cava, where the Baccante prize ceremony will take place at 9 pm.
