Licia Troisi is the Queen of Fantasy, a major player in the Italian literary scene.
Fantasy is one of Europe’s foremost genres. The 2010 Baccante Literary Prize will be awarded to Licia Troisi.
Licia Troisi, an avid fan of role-playing games, wrote a fantasy novel at the age of 21, just for fun. She sent the manuscript to Mondadori and not only was the novel published, it shot to the top of the bestseller lists. Troisi’s novels are a rich mixture of myth, fairy tales, mysteries and ancient archetypes, where the protagonists fight for their identity and for the freedom of their people.
Licia Troisi’s novels recount the fight for universal causes, in far-off, imaginary lands, yet are imbued with serious contemporary issues such as war, diversity and the environment.
Licia Troisi was born in 1980 in Rome. She studied classics and then got a degree in astrophysics with a dissertation on dwarf galaxies. These are the books she has published with Mondadori: “Cronache del mondo emerso: Nihal della Terra del Vento, La missione di Sennar , Il talismano del potere”, the trilogy “Guerre del Mondo Emerso: La setta degli assassini, Le due guerriere, Un nuovo regno” and the trilogy “Leggende del Mondo Emerso: Il destino di Adhara”. These fantasy sagas have earned her a worldwide readership. She has been published in Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Portugal, Brazil and other countries.
Licia Troisi works as an astrophysicist for the Italian Space Agency and is currently working toward her doctorate in astrophysics.
