The magic of books

penimageimagination.jpgIMAGINATION IS A BRIDGE BETWEEN REALITY AND FICTION

CHECK THE PROGRAM

Without imagination humanity would be unable to enjoy music, art, philosophy or science. In fact, we would have nothing at all without creativity. Fantasy opens up the doors to dreams and to the impossible. And though it might defy expectations, this allows us to live with our feet firmly planted on the ground.” (Moony Witcher)

Other dimensions, new worlds, real and imaginary visions. The magic of books opens these new worlds up to us. What magic lies within the covers of a book! It can transport you to far-off worlds and spark off new emotions and feelings. Fantasy, paranormal romances, historical novels, thrillers -- join us at the International Women's Fiction Festival as we explore these new and thrilling worlds, against the magical backdrop of the Sassi of Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where imagination reigns supreme.

Our guests: Olivia Agostini, Enaiatollah Akbari, Alessandra Appiano, Silvia Avallone, Stefania Barzini, Enrica Bonaccorti, Cristina Cattaneo, Carlotta Mismetti Capua, Alessandra Casella, Daria Colombo, Elizabeth Edmondson, Gabriella Genisi, Lorenzo Laporta, Lia Levi, Tiziana Lo Porto, Francesco Introna, Simon Mawer, Annamaria Minunno, Giulio Mola, Cristina Obber, Margherita Oggero, Teresa Petruzzelli, Manuela Stefani, Licia Troisi, Grazia Verasani, Patrizia Violi, Vincenzo Viti, Lorella Zanardo, Giovanni Ziccardi.

Our program: a mystery dinner at the "Baccanti " restaurant, delving into the world of the law, investigations and mysteries, organized together with the LEGAL DRAMA SOCIETY and our friends of the Rotary Club. The next day a thrilling evening show of paranormal romance featuring vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters and ghosts, presenting Bluenocturne, the new paranormal imprint of  HARLEQUIN MONDADORI , official sponsor of the WFF, organized together with CINEFABRICA.

THE BACCANTE LITERARY PRIZE

The very air during the Festival will be filled with the magic of books, culminating in the awarding of the Baccante literary prize, followed by a sound and light show featuring music and fireworks "PIETRE CHE CANTANO", organized in collaboration with Illuminotecnica, Pirotecnica Santachiara and SassiLive .

The 2010 Baccante Literary Prize will be awarded to Licia Troisi.

There will also be a showing of a documentary "Il Corpo delle donne" (Women's Bodies) by Lorella Zanardo, presented in conjunction with the regional and provincial office of the Regional Councilwoman for Equality of Opportunity, which will round out the offerings of the 7th International Women's Fiction Festival.

LA CIRCONFERENZA DELLE ARANCE

Maria Gabriella Genisi, LA CIRCONFERENZA DELLE ARANCE - Sonzogno, May 2010
-“After Montalbano’s orange groves, here come the oranges of commissario Lolita. Brusque, sunny, ironic, sensual. A true, unbridled force of nature.” (Gaetano Cappelli) -
Bari has a new police commissioner, Lolita Lo Bosco, nicknamed Lolì. Right from her first day on the job, Lolì has to deal with wagging tongues and influential adversaries who would like nothing better than to bring her career to a screeching halt. To make things even worse, she is handed a case that threatens her private life—Stefano Benedetto Morelli, a 40 year-old social-climbing dentist, is accused of rape. One look is enough to spark memories of a stormy, shared past.
Without the WFF nothing would have happened - says Gabriella Genisi. The WFF has changed my life and I am really grateful to the organizer of the WFF. I would advise  all my friends with a manuscript  in a drawer to register for the WFF because it offers so many opportunities to meet the right editor or agent, at the right time for your book to get published."
