Mariateresa Cascino is 33 years old, and is a native of Matera.
She got her degree in Communication Science at Lumsa University in Rome and is a free lance Marketing and Communications consultant for both the government and the private sector. She is a journalist and contents manager for the cable TV channel of the Italian civil service - TelePA - which was founded by the Department of the Civil Service and by Formez.

Mariateresa Cascino is also involved in research, planning and promotion. She has worked both in Italy and in the United States, in Boston and New York, as a marketing and communications specialist for consultancy firm and for retail corporations. She was a consultant for the Science and Technology Park of Basilicata, involved in planning training projects and marketing and communications projects, in planning start-ups in the tourist sector and in public relations.

Each year she edits, publishes and distributes SweetArt, a bulletin dedicated to cultural activities and art in Matera.

She is one of the founding members of the Women's Fiction Festival and runs its communication and external relations programs.
